2016 Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Cape Winemakers Guild Windansea Pinot Noir

Light mix of garnet and ruby red. Elegant nose with perfume, bramble berries, snapped twigs and black cherries. Medium plus acidity (7/10) and light plus to medium bodied. Layered palate with strawberries, black currants and spiced. Long and tangy finish.
Seventh wine in the VIP tasting lounge during the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and fourth still red wine. This is made up of 100% Pinot Noir by Gordon Newton Johnson from a single vineyard (Windansea) in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley region in Walker Bay. Aged for a total of seventeen months, six of which were in large oak barrels prior to bottling. Only 102 cases produced with 24 being auctioned in 2018 and 40 auctioned in 2017.p>
