2016 Kanonkop Cape Winemakers Guild Pinotage

Dark purplish ruby red. Lovely nose coated with blueberries, blackberries, smoked and a little spiced. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and full bodied. A little gritty on the palate and a bit dry with some earthiness, blueberries, touch burnt rubber and some dried herbs. Long and lingering finish.
Fifth wine in the VIP tasting lounge during the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and third still red wine. This is made up of 100% Pinotage by Abrie Beeslaar from Simonsberg-Stellenbosch. Aged for a total of 18 months. Only 70 cases produced with 50 being auctioned in 2018.p>
