2013 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Lot No. 1
Region: Napa Valley, North Coast, California, United States of America
Last wine from the first table (Louis M. Martini Table) we visited at Zachy's Grand Opening in D.C.
Deep and dark purplish red. Layered nose with some new French oak influences. Notes of cinnamon, pencil shavings, dark red berries, dark bitter cocoa and cassis. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Needs a bit of time to beef up and integrate further. Layered palate with bramble berries, black cherries, blackberries, spices and tons of crushed gravel. Long and lingering finish.
Made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for a total of 21 months in 96% new French oak barrels. The fruit in this bottling comes from a few areas within the valley such as the Stagecoach Vineyard in Atlas Peak (45%), Stags Leap (21%) and various vineyards from Spring Mountain and Rutherford.
