Tasting Note:May 29, 2017

Deep garnet red. Layered and a bit dirty to start. Notes of forest floor, savory, tobacco, dark fruits, and cedar. Well integrated medium tannins (6/10) and acidity. Layered palate with black currants, cigar box, damp leaves and mountain berries. Balanced and still kicking. Medium bodied with a long finish. Very impressed with this 12 year old bottle from diamond mountain. Drink within the next two years in order to keep the power.

Teachworth Estate is a small family owned boutique winery located a few minutes from Calistoga on Diamond Mountain. Jean and Walter (sadly no longer with us) Teachworth opened this estate in 1991 after moving to Napa Valley. Just from trying this one bottling alone, this is definitely on our bucket list of mountain estates to visit. This specific bottling was aged for around 30 months in French oak. Only 100 cases produced.
