2014 Warwick Estate Méthode Cap Classique
Region: Simonsberg-Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South Africa
Tasting Note:December 20, 2017
First visit to Warwick for us, we have had a couple of their bottlings in the past but never this MCC they produce from older Chardonnay vines in Simonsberg-Stellenbosch.
Light bright yellow with light bubbles. Quite a bit of yeast on the nose with some honey, biscuits, and apples. A touch sweet too. Nice amount of carbonation on the palate with medium acidity (6/10). Seems to have a little bit of oak or lee aging. Notes of citrus zest and a bit creamy. Light bodied with a short plus finish.
Made up of 100% Chardonnay from 35 year old vines and aged for 27 months on the lees. Around 2,500 to 3,000 bottles produced.
