2013 Witchery Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Fourth of the blind tasting for Father's Day weekend.
Deep and dark purplish ruby red. Dark fruits with a touch of acetone or whiskey on the nose. Some cigars and dark cocoa as well. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and medium bodied. A touch lighter than expected. Extracted dark fruits and bitter dark cocoa on the palate. A little unbalanced with a medium plus finish. This is still a baby and needs time to settle.
Made by Grant Long Jr. of Aonair Wines. The blend make up is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Cabernet Franc.

$$$ - Can be purchased online for $100.00 from Estate.Second vintage we have tried of the Oakville Cabernet by Witchery Wines. Deep, dark and opaque purple and ruby red. No cloudiness. Fruit forward, lead with cassis. Everything else was tight. After breathing for an hour notes of mesquite smoke and herbs began to appear. Moderate plus tannins (7/10) with a full body. Tannins grips the cheeks as it progresses from the front to rear palate. Very well balanced but needs time to integrate very young. Tons of dark fruits and berries, specially blackberries as it attacks your palate. Like the proprietor's reserve, insanely plush, silky and smooth. No harsh areas or heat. Very enjoyable and balanced finish. Again another great wine with some aging potential, we would say up to 7 or so years in the cellar. Honestly, we will probably finish them way before then! So far our favorite out of the Witchery Cabs that we have been lucky enough to try.
