2011 Antonelli San Marco Sagrantino di Montefalco Chiusa di Pannone

Medium ruby red. Quite floral on the nose with some roses, cinnamon and red currants. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Lush palate with solid stoney undertones. Overtones of blackberries, spices, cedar and dried tobacco. Long and lingering finish.
Made out of 100% Sagrantino from the Chiusa di Pannone Vineyard in Montelfaco, Umbria, just north of Rome. Aged for six months in large 600L barrels, before aging for 24 months in oak barrels. Once barrel aging is complete it is aged for months in glass lined concrete vats and then 24 months in bottle.
