2016 Pride Mountain Vineyards Syrah
Region: Sonoma County, North Coast, California, United States of America
Inky purplish red. Quite savory on the nose with cinnamon, iron, peppercorn, white flowers, dark berries and a touch of stone fruits. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. A bit raw on the palate. Layered as well with notes of leather, anise, spices, smoked herbs, dark berries, blackberries and black pepper. Needs a bit of time to develop and come together. Very dry with a lingering finish.
First winery on day three traveling from Sonoma to Napa Valley was Pride Mountain Vineyards with Paul. Second red wine on the tour through the caves is their Sonoma County Syrah. This bottling is made up of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier. Aged separately for fourteen months in 100% neutral French oak barrels. Only 1,103 cases produced.
