2017 Mountain Tides Petite Sirah Contra Costa

Barrel tasting with Scott Kirkpatrick. Deep purplish ruby red. Darker nose than the Clement Hills with raspberries, light baking spices and even a touch of citrus or grapefruit. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium bodied, it builds up. Ripe palate with black currants, cassis, herbs and purple flowers. Smooth and dry medium plus to long finish.
First winery on our fourth day in Napa Valley is Mountain Tides Wines and Eleven Eleven Wines located in Oak Knoll. First up was a barrel tasting of their 2017 Petite Sirah Contra Consta. Made by Scott Kirkpatrick. Only four barrels produced and all in neutral oak.
