2014 La Jota W.S. Keyes Merlot

Dark purplish ruby red in appearance. Elegant nose with some dark floral notes, blackberries and dark cherries. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied with balanced acidity. Juicy and powerful on the palate with black bramble berries, blackberries and baking spices. Long and lingering finish. An absolutely beautiful Howell Merlot with tons of potential.
First winery on our fifth day in Napa Valley is Cardinale Winery in Oakville with Alex. The sixth red wine was the La Jota Vineyard Co W.S. Keyes Vineyard Merlot which comes from Howell Mountain. This comes from 50 year old vines up on the W.S. Keyes Vineyard on Howell Mountain and comes in an insanely small production size of only 20 cases.
