2016 Holden Manz Big G
Region: Franschhoek Valley, Coastal Region, Western Cape, South Africa
Tasting Note:December 21, 2017
Barrel Tasting with Gerard Holden and Thierry Haberer. Named after one of the big men himself whom we tasted with (Gerard Holden).
Deep and dark purplish ruby red. A bit chalky on the nose with lots of dark cassis and spics. Medium plus to heavy tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Love the complexity on the palate with blackberries, pencil shavings, gravel and baking spices. Dry and long finish. This will have a long life ahead of it.
Been in barrel for around two years right now. Made up of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Merlot.
