2003 La Massa Giorgio Primo
Region: Tuscany, Italy
Beautiful color, does not seem 15 years old. Deep mix of garnet and ruby in the core with some brick on the edges. Lovely aged characteristics on the nose with notes of leather, a bit dirty, meaty, dark dried cocoa, blackberries, herbs, earthy, cigar box and olives. Love the nose. Medium tannins (6/10), so smooth and well integrated with a medium plus body. Solid acidity and Tons of layers on the palate, tobacco, cherries, leather and some earthiness. Dry and long finish.
Delicious Super Tuscan-blend made up of 50% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barriques, 10 of which are on the lees. Only 35,000 bottles produced.
