2016 Boschkloof Cape Winemakers Guild Epilogue Syrah

Dark ruby core with garnet edges. Savory attack on the nose with ripe olives, blackberries, gravel and a hint of spices. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Layered palate with a mix of savory elements such as olives and herbs, as well as dark blackberries and baking spices. Long and lingering finish.
Thirty-first wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the twentieth red wine. This is made up of 100% Shiraz by Jacques Borman with fruit from the Stellenbosch region. Aged for 18 months and 40% whole cluster pressed in 30% new French oak barrels. Only 70 cases produced with 40 being auctioned in 2018.
