2015 Strydom Family Wines Cape Winemakers Guild The Game Changer Cabernet Franc - Merlot
Dark mix of ruby and garnet red in appearance. Dark and tight nose showing this is still a baby with some graphite, bitter cocoa, cinnamon and black cherries. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. A touch of greenery on the attack of the palate with some dark cocoa, gravel, dark cherries and some chalkiness. Quite a bit of acidity with a long finish.
Twenty-second wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the eleventh red wine. This is made up of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot by Rianie Strydom from the Helderberg Mountains in the Stellenbosch region. Aged separately until six months prior to bottling. Only 90 cases produced with 60 being auctioned in 2018.
