2015 Vermeil Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Jean Louis Vermeil

Sixth wine at the tasting bar. Deep purplish ruby red. Wine had been open for around six hours before we started tasting and it could have used some more. A little bit tight on the nose with some dark berries, spices, cinnamon and volcanic gravel. Medium tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Smooth and rounded palate with solid acidity and layers of sweet tobacco, cassis, dark berries, blueberries, sage, leather and minerality. Long and lingering finish.
Made up of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc from the Frediani Vineyard in Calistoga. Aged for 21 months in 65% neutral oak. Only 96 cases produced.
