2011 Cayuse The Lovers
We went to our good friend's restaurant last night for date night. Bryan makes some great small dishes at his wine shop and bistro, Oakton Wine Shop & Bistro, in Oakton, VA. I brought along a little #wawinemonth love with this 2011 Cayuse The Lovers. We loved the crab cake and lamb chops with parsnip purée. Highly recommend visiting for wine lovers!
Deep garnet red with lighter edges. Lovely nose with layers of smoke, the 'rocks/Cayuse' funk, meaty, stinky, red cherries, tobacco, sweet spices and a little dark berries. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium bodied. Great acidity, texture and structure. Layers of dust, a little blue fruits, black pepper, brambles, and great minerality. More layers and complexity with time in the glass, especially the blue and pepper notes. Perfect with the lamp chops.
Second vintage of this bottling made up of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah..
2017 till 2025.
