2009 Bevan Cellars EE Cuvée Showket Vineyard
First of the three blind reds to celebrate passing with distinction on the WSET 2.
Deep garnet red with a ruby core. Layered nose with lots of complexity. Notes of mushrooms, truffles, dark forest floor, cedar, leather, dark cocoa and a touch of dark fruits in the finish. It got a little dirtier with some vegetal notes after some time in the glass, definitely the Cabernet Franc influence. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and well integrated. Notes of dark cinnamon, dark bitter cocoa, anise, plums and dark berries. Medium plus body and a long finish with some dark gravel.
Does not level up to some the other Bevan wines we have had, but not the easiest vintage either. Bordeaux-blend made up of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Cabernet Franc.
2017 till 2019.
