2007 Pahlmeyer Merlot

Third of our seven year vertical tonight....Scratch that the 2014 came out too.
Dark mix of garnet and ruby red. Lovely nose with pencil shaving, purple flowers, spices, cassis and more currants. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Love the gravel on the palate, almost mountain like with tight dark berries and dark spices. Long finish.
Made of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit comes from the Pahlmeyer Estate Vineyard and Rancho Chimiles Vineyard. Aged in 75% new French oak for 18 months.

$$$ - Current vintage can be purchased at the estate for $75.00.Great final night dinner with Kale. Second of the reds is the 2007 Pahlmeyer Merlot. Super dark ruby red. Lovely nose with some crushed dark berries, dark floral notes and very light stones. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Tons of layers in dark berries, both black and tight blue. Great depth and power. Decanted for two hours.

$$$ - Dinner with Kale and his wife. Current vintage can be purchased at the estate for $75.00.Excellent Merlot, showed very well against some difficult competition. Medium ruby red with high intensity. No decant but nose was showing a mix of dark cocoa, baking spices and dark berries. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) with a rich and full body. Long finish showing similar characteristics to the nose. Delicious merlot as always.
