2012 Cain Five
Tasting Note:February 28, 2017
Medium to deep mix of ruby and garnet red. Bigger punch on the nose than the 2006. A touch smoky, and dark fruits in the finish. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Palate started off a bit tight but then had some black cherries and woody notes. Great structure and a bit of graphite in the dry long finish.
Bordeaux-blend made of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. Aged for around 22 months in 60% new French oak. Only 6,042 cases produced.
