2015 Ken Forrester Sparklehorse Chenin Blanc Méthode Cap Classique
Region: Helderberg, Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South Africa
Tasting Note:December 25, 2017
First of the wines for Christmas at my Uncles house in South Africa. Medium yellow with a golden hue and very light, tiny bubbles. Quite sour and tart on the nose with notes of yellow apples, brioche and a touch of flowers. Medium plus acidity (6.5/10) and light plus body. Very tart and refreshing with Granny Smith apples, honey suckle and quite dry. Long finish.
Made of 100% Chenin Blanc from vines planted in 1975 (32 years old) and made in the traditinal method, MCC. Aged for 14 months on the lees prior to disgorgement.
