2013 Sinegal Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Estate: Sinegal Estate

Region: St. Helena, Napa Valley, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:August 19, 2016

Couldn't help ourselves, had to coravin some as soon as we got back home. Super dark ruby red. Love the nose on this, layers of cigar box, tobacco leaves, mesquite smoke and tons of black fruits and dark raspberries. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Tons of baking spices, tobacco and black/blue fruits on the palate. All wrapped together. Super long finish but needs a nice decant next time.

This is a stunning bottle made up of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec and 7% Petit Verdot and aged in 100% new French oak. Ryan Knoth is the winemaker and has worked under expert winemakers such as Michel Rolland and Phillipe Melka. Additionally, Tony Biagi is the consulting winemaker. If you have not tried any of their wines already we highly recommend them.

Final wine tasted at Sinegal. It is a powerhouse. Super dark ruby red and completely coats the glass. Warm and inviting nose with layers of tobacco, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla beans. Undertones coated in black fruits. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10), not as rigged as the regular Cabernet Sauvignon bottling. Very complex with cigar boxes and dark cocoa, almost like those dark chocolate scented cigarillos. Silky and plush, actually voluptuous with layers of dark fruits. Great structure and full bodied. This is a big wine that will gain complexity with more bottle age.
