2013 Somerston Stornoway
Ruby and garnet red intertwined. Great baking spices on the nose especially the cinnamon and brown sugar. As it airs out it develops some darker fruits, mainly blackberries. Some leather undertones too. Great texture like a little roughness and silkier finish. Tight dark fruits with some savory elements. Could use some time to fully open up. Moderate tannins (6/10) and moderate plus body. Good structure and some redder fruits showing in the long finish. Great Merlot led blend (87.5% Merlot and 12.5% Cabernet Franc) that will get better with a couple more years in the bottle.
Blend of 87.5% Merlot from the Stornoway Vineyard and 12.5% Cabernet Franc from the Deerhound Vineyard. Aged for 24 months in French oak and unfiltered.
2016 till 2026.
