2014 Cruse Wine Co. Valdiguié Rancho Chimiles
Tasting Note:July 24, 2016
First Valdiguie wine we have tried. Purplish red with an almost bluish hue, medium intensity. Soft floral notes on the nose with some light red berries. Mix of raspberries and blackberries, not overly acidic or fruity, nice and soft. Cola like texture with moderate tannins (5/10) and light bodied. Slightly dry medium finish. Well balances and the perfect lighter styled wine.
Valdiguié used to be called Napa Gamay but the wording Napa Gamay has been banned on labels since 1999. Valdiguié is more commonly grown in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of Southern France. Small production wine with only 1 barrel produced, or 25 cases or around 300 bottles.
