Tasting Note:July 8, 2016

Dark ruby red with high intensity. Super savory nose coated with smoked meats and olive tapenade. Day two added in some red berry undertones. More dark fruit than the 2012, coated with blueberries and baking spices like nutmeg. Slightly savory undertone with some green olives. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Dry long finish. Great new winemaker, definitely one to check out if you enjoy California Syrah.

Beautiful blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache. Of the 60% Syrah, 22% came from the Bien Nacido Vineyard and 38% came from the Murmur Vineyard. Of the 40% Grenache, 13% from Bien Nacido Vineyard and 27% from the Murmur Vineyard. The Bien Nacido Syrah was co-fermented with the Murmur Grenache and the Bien Nacido Grenache was co-fermented with the Murmur Syrah. 35% was whole cluster. These two separate lots were pressed together after fermentation and then aged together for 22 months in 40% new French oak. Only 190 cases produced.
