2012 Azienda Agricola La Greggia Moraie
Region: Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
Out of the three La Greggia wines tried today this was the lightest and fruitiest of the bunch. High intensity on the nose with a ton of red cherries attacking you as soon as you pour a glass. Intense color as well, garnet red with a solid dark red core. Nose changed slightly as it opened up with a few medicinal characteristics and a little acetone. A few hours later that blew off with an addition of some earthy tones, sweeter red fruits and herbal tea. High acidity (7/10) and soft tannins (4.5/10). The body was low to medium but is dominated by the strong acidity and lots of red cherries. Nice and dry moderate finish with refreshing cherries and strawberries. Definitely needs a little more aging in the bottle but a great bottle of alicante!
100% Alicante. Aged for six months in barrique (small French oak barrels) and three months in bottle prior to release. Only 3,300 bottles produced.
2016 till 2019.
