2002 Château Lynch-Bages
Region: Pauillac, Medoc, Bordeaux, France
First out of the three year blind vertical after the blind Burgundy night. Deep and dark garnet red. A little stink on the nose with tobacco, left over cigars, and a slight chalkiness. Palate had quite a bit of fruit for a French Bordeaux. Definitely seemed older than the second and third wines. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Moderate plus in intensity with lingering dry finish. Not sure if this has the power to hold up like the 2000 and 2006.
Classified as a Fifth Growth during the Official Classification of 1855 which only classified estates on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. This Bordeaux blend is comprised of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged for 15 months in 65% new French oak.
