Realm, Sinegal and Continuum | Day One Napa Valley 2017

First Stop: Realm Cellars

Our third trip to Napa Valley and a couple new estates on day one with the parents. First stop of the day was at Realm Cellars with the founder Juan Mercado at their brand new estate vineyard in the Stags Leap District AVA.

Learnt a lot today about the various labels at Realm Cellars and the future of the estate. Cannot wait to try more wines in the future from here. We were fortunate enough to taste the 2014 Bard, 2008 Bard, 2007 Falstaff and the brand new 2014 Moonracer. Check out our tasting notes here .

Where are they located? 5795 Silverado Trail, Napa, CA 94558

Do you need an appointment? Yes, tastings and tours are by appointment only.

Who is their winemaker? Benoit Touquette

Price Ranges: $60.00 to $300.00

Recommend: Highly recommended, The Bard and The Tempest drink way above their price point.

Second Stop: Sinegal Estate

Second time for us at Sinegal Estate, and love these wines. We just had to bring our parents by to check it out. Too bad the weather did not co-operate so well, photos are from our visit in 2016. This is only the second vintage for this estate that was recently purchased by the Sinegal family (of Costco) from the old Wolff Family Vineyards.

There is a lot of history in this estate. Starting when it was first purchased in 1879 and having its first planted vines in 1881. But it did not stop there. The property was purchased again in 1965 by the Jaeger families (founders of Freemark Abbey and Rutherford Hill wineries). In 1996 the property was purchased by the Wolff Family who started making wines in 1997 until the Sinegal family purchased it.

Second time we have tried the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and it has improved quite a bit. Delicious 2014s all around, not quite as complex as the 2013 but still stunning wines! Check out our tasting notes here.

Where are they located? 2125 Inglewood Ave, St. Helena, CA 94574

Do you need an appointment? Yes, tastings and tours are by appointment only.

Who is their winemaker? Ryan Knoth and consultant winemaker is Anthony (Tony) Biagi.

Price Ranges: $45.00 to $195.00

Recommend: Highly recommended.

Third and Final Stop: Continuum Estate

First estate we have visited on Pritchard Hill and we will need to visit again when it is sunny. Only two wines are produced at Continuum Estate, the first is the flagship wine, Continuum Proprietary Red and the second is Novicium. Since 2012 both are produced exclusively from estate fruit and since 2014 they will carry the name of the vineyard name, Sage Mountain Vineyard. One of the coolest facts we found out was about the 103 year old olive trees planted near the caves. Absolutely beautiful.

As you all already know, the Mondavi name is famous within the wine industry in Napa Valley. This project was started by Tim Mondavi in 2005 to produce a single estate bottling. As stated earlier, finally in 2012, Continuum began producing 100% estate wine. The estate is located on a beautiful portion of Pritchard Hill with stunning views of the valley and beautiful olive trees. Another estate we would love to visit again in better wheater. Check out our tasting notes here .

Where are they located? 1677 Sage Canyon Road, St. Helena, CA 94574.

Do you need an appointment? Yes, tastings and tours are by appointment only.

Who is their winemaker? Carrie Findleton.

Price Ranges: $110.00 to $200.00

Recommend: Highly recommended, delicious Bordeaux blends.
