2015 Black Ankle Vineyards Quartzite
Region: North Central Piedmont, Frederick County, Maryland, United States of America
Tasting Note:May 27, 2016
Third white from Black Ankle. Pale golden yellow. Tropical attack on the nose, more pungent than the Viognier. Also some undertones of wet grass. Stone fruit and wet stones/rocks on the palate. High acidity (8/10) and light bodied, fuller in the attack than the finish. A little minty too in the moderate finish. Definitely needs some time to mellow out.
Very interesting white blend composed of: 43% Grüner Veltliner, 28% Chardonnay, 15% Albariño, 10% Muscat and 4% Viognier. This bottling only had 300 cases produced.
