2013 Witchery Proprietor Reserve Blend

Estate: Witchery Wines

Region: Napa Valley, California, United States of America

Tasting Note:October 05, 2015

While traveling with Gordy (the owner of Witchery) and his tour company Eye on Wine we were lucky enough to try one of his recent releases from his own estate. The bottle had been open for three days but still seemed so young. The color was a deep, opaque ruby red and not cloudy at all. The nose was very fruit forward with a ton of dark fruits and cassis. Moderate and round tannins which can most likely be attributed to the air time (3 days) and integrated perfectly with the moderate body. The wine was silky, smooth and how can we forget, insanely plush. Finish lingers and this is where we see the aging potential in this wine, it could do with a solid 7 to 10 years in the cellar. It was great to meet the winemaker (Grant Long Jr) and drink this at his gorgeous estate (Aonair) in Coombsville.

Made by Grant Long Jr. of Aonair Wines. We believe the blend make up is very similar to the 2012 which was 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 6% Cabernet Franc.
