2013 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Three Twins Vineyard
Early birthday celebration for India. Deep ruby red in appearance. A bit tight to start with a little bit of iron to start then opened up with some cinnamon, light blueberries and earthy. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. A bunch of secondary notes on the palate with leather, cassis, dirt, and restrained blackberries. A lot drier and earthier than Mike Smith’s other offerings. Long and lingering finish.
2018 till 2040.

$$$ - Purchased from the estate for $86.40.Tasted at Envy Wines/Carter Cellars in Calistoga with India. Hosted by fellow berserker Brian and Mike Smith, very friendly and showed us around. Deep purplish red. Lots of berries and cassis on the nose. Additionally there are some subtle notes at the end of grass and leather. A little dryer than expected with more earth notes than fruit. Additionally it is very balanced with strong tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Possibly a little high in acid but just needs to mellow out. Would be very interesting to try in a few years along side some of the other Myriad Cabs. Luckily I bought one to go.
