Tasting Note:March 2, 2018

Second wine and first red wine of our annual DMV South Africa Tasting.

Deep garnet core with brick edges. Layered nose with notes of chalk, dust, cedar, truffles, cherries and red currants. Medium tannins (5/10) and well balanced acidity. Medium bodied with dried cherries, a little stoney, dusty, light savory spices and some twigs on the palate. Medium length finish and well integrated.

Bordeaux-blend made up of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 11% Cabernet Franc. All the varietals separately went through malolatic fermentation in oak for 6 months prior to aging for a total number of 20 months in 70% new French oak Nevers and 30% 2nd fill Nevers and Allier barrels.
