2013 Buccella Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Napa Valley, North Coast, California, United States of America
Super dark purplish ruby red, almost black and completely coats the glass. Layered and thick nose with tobacco, dark berries, dark baking spices and at a high intensity. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and loaded dark fruit attack; black cherries, cassis and even blackberries. A bit of espresso too. Full bodied with an insanely long finish.
Gwen was a fantastic host at Buccella this morning, we were lucky enough to taste through three of the latest releases. This is their Cabernet Sauvignon bottling made up of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot from various small vineyards throughout the valley. Whole berry fermented and aged for 22 months in 80% new French oak barrels. Only 1,130 cases produced.
