2003 Pahlmeyer Merlot

Eighth of our seven year vertical tonight....Scratch that the 2014 and the 2003 (this one) came out too.
Mix of deep garnet and ruby red with lighter edges. Lovely aged nose with floral notes, cedar, cocoa, licorice, cassis and blackberries. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full body. Complex notes on the palate with dark spices, light forest floor, black fruits and a touch of blue too. Long finish.
Made of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit comes from the Pahlmeyer Estate, Rancho Chimiles, Stagecoach and Caldwell Vineyards. Aged in 100% new French oak for 19 months.
