2014 Waterford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Stellenbosch, Western Cape, Coastal Region, South Africa
Dark ruby red. Very tight on the nose, very dark with some cocoa, dusty dark berries, spices, cocoa and chalky. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Dark cherries, cocoa, gravel and a touch green underneath. A little bitter and a touch floral too. Long finish. Needed about an hour plus of air to open up nicely.
Made up of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, and 4% Merlot. Aged for 18 months in 34% new French oak and 182 barrels produced.

A bit mute with dark flowers, chalkiness and spices. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and full bodied. Solid acidity throughout with notes of dark berries, spices and minerality. A touch bitter too. Long finish. This was given a little bit of air before the drive, it needs more.
