The cruise continues! Night eight aboard the Allure of the Seas and 50% off all wines. This was still way too young and we left it for the next day.
Deep ruby red. Dusty nose with a touch of dirty cellar. Needed to air out and out came the layers with cherries, cassis, forest floor, spices and oddly a touch vegetal. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Tons of structure and balanced acidity with layers of dark cocoa, red cherries and earthy undertones. Long finish and this definitely needs some time.
Bordeaux blend made up of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. Aged for 17 and a half months in 100% new French oak barrels.
2019 till 2039.
