WOTN for us, only our second time ever trying the Katrina Eileen Cuvee, but first for the 2010. Deep and dark ruby red that completely coats the glass. We believe this was opened for max a couple hours and boy does it need the time. Coated in cassis, blackberries and dark spices. Powerful and full body with heavy tannins (9/10). Plush and voluptuous. Tons of oaky and dark fruits notes. Baking spices woven throughout. Super long finish and would always welcome the opportunity to try again.
The star of this fun get together, just beating out the 2014 Becklyn Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Mould Family Vineyard. Buccella wines is a super small cult wine estate making four commercially available bottlings; Merlot, Mixed Blacks, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Cabernet Sauvignon Cuvée Katrina Eileen. This bottling is made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in the Yountville and Coombsville AVAs. Aged for 20 months in 100% new French oak and unfiltered. Only 546 bottles produced.
