2014 Laurent Perrachon Juliénas Les Vignes Centenaires
Region: Juliénas, Beaujolais, Burgundy, France
Light ruby red. Layered nose with lots of red berries and floral notes, a touch earthy, some mushrooms and a hint of minerality. Moderate acidity (7/10) and low tannins (4/10). Light to medium body with tons of red cherries and a touch of forest floor. Long finish. Gave this a nice decant for around an hour or two, even with that this is very young.
Les Vignes Centenairs is on of their special or Cuvée Spéciale bottlings from Laurent Perrachon & Fils. The vines that go into this bottling are from the hills above the La Bottière Vineyard and have an average age of 100 years. Juliénas is one of the ten Cru du Beaujolais and is based around the village named after Julius Caesar. Bottled in limited quantities and aged for 12 months in oak barrels and again for 3 more months in large oak vats.
