1978 William Hill Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Mount Veeder, Napa Valley, California, United States of America
Tasting Note:April 14, 2017
Deep brick red. Seemed like a touch of TCA on the nose that wore off with some time and added some layers of damp wood, forest floor, red cherries and violet. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) and medium to medium plus body. Tons of red fruits intermingled with some earthiness and woody notes. Long finish.
Inaugural vintage of William Hill Estate Winery started in 1978 by William Hill just south of the Stags Leap District in Napa Valley. The fruit for this bottling was from their Mt. Veeder Vineyard which was then sold off to Donald Hess of The Hess Collection.
