2009 La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain

Deep ruby and garnet red. Soft blackberries on the nose with some plums. A bit of pencil shavings and burnt herbs too. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Solid fruit on the palate with layers of dark cocoa, twigs, and mountain berries. Long and lingering finish.
The 2009 vintage is Cabernet-based blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot from the La Jota and W.S. Keyes Vineyards atop Howell Mountain. Aged for 22 months in 85% new French oak barrels. 14.8% alcohol.
