2008 Rustenberg Cabernet Sauvignon Peter Barlow
Tasting Note:October 1, 2017
Super dark ruby core with garnet edges. Really stinky with some dirty cellar notes and South African funk on the nose. A bit of bacon, mushrooms and forest floor too. Balanced acidity with medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered palate with tons of earthiness and dark berries. A touch green in the undertone. Long and dry finish.
Stunning find in Pennsylvania a couple months ago. If you guys do not know about the Peter Barlow bottling it is a part of Rustenberg's site specific bottlings. This is made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 24 months in 64% new French oak barrels. .
