2013 Darioush Darius II
Tasting Note:October 27, 2017
Deep and dark ruby red. Very young but powerful nose. Pencil shavings, cassis, sweet spices, cinnamon, dark cocoa, blackberries and dark gravel. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Seems like a touch of chalk with lots of black fruits, spices, and bit of minerality. Long and lingering finish.
The label of this Darius II bears the details from a man's cloak woven in Iran during the 1870s. This vintage is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec and 4% Merlot. Aged for 100% new French oak for 20 months. Michel Rolland is the consultant winemaker.
