2007 Darioush Darius II
Deep ruby red with a touch of garnet on the edges. Floral attack on the nose with some cinnamon, graphite and forest floor. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Dark palate with black cherries, dark bitter cocoa and dark crushed rocks. Gained some blue fruits with a little bit of air. A little bit of petrol and bitterness in the long finish.
The label of this Darius II bears the details from a 14th century copper and bronze baisin. This baisin has multiple meanings: 1. The color was enhanced through out the fish which are a strong symbol in the Persian culture. 2. Fish denote the coming of the New Year during the Persian holiday of No Ruz. 3. They also represent the Persian goddess, Anahita. The goddess of fertility, wisdom and healing. This vintage is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec and 5% Merlot. Aged for 100% new French oak for 20 months. Only 18 barrels produced.
