2012 Sanguis Verve
Tasting Note:September 23, 2017
Light ruby red. Quite savory on the nose with notes of dried herbs, iron, and spices. Complexity is definitely there too with crushed flower petals and dark red currants. Medium tannins (6/10) and dry throughout. Savory palate too with layers of flowers, anise, kirsch cherries and twigs. Medium to medium plus bodied with a long finish. Wish we had another bottle in the cellar.
The Verve is a Grenache based blend co-fermented with small amounts of Syrah and Viognier. Aged for 23 months in a mix of new and used French oak barrels. Only 175 cases produced.
