2014 Arterra Reserve
Tasting Note:May 7, 2016
Last real wine from Arterra Wines. Crimson red. Pretty tight to start, cranberrries, slight smokiness, leather and some yeast. Palate is covered in dark cherries and strong acidity. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and fuller than the Malbec or Cabernet Franc. Long and lingering finish. This wine needs at least a year in the bottle before touching again, like Jason said he just bottled this and it is not yet ready. Definitely has some great potential!
The grapes used in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages are all sourced. This specific vintage is sourced from the Seven Oaks Vineyard in Loudoun County. This vintage is a blend of Tannat, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
