2013 Taken Red Wine
Region: Napa Valley, California, United States of America
We have seen this wine popping up online quite a bit so we grabbed a bottle and tried a quick coravin. Wine was ruby red with purple hues. Lots of dark fruits on the nose with a slightly savory element, we were thinking mushrooms or truffles. Started out with an attack of a classic Napa styled Bordeaux blend, that of dark berries and fruits along side baking spices with moderate tannins (6/10). Then the palate changed from a classic Napa Bordeaux blend, with rustic and earthy undertones. The entire palate was not explosive, but was constrained to the initial attack and seemed to die down from a moderate body in the beginning to a low body near the finish. Overall this wine seemed a little simple, with the constrained palate, moderate to low body, and finished off with a short to moderate dry finish. Potential to improve with time and develop further.
This wine is a Bordeaux Blend comprised of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot.
2016 till 2020.
