2013 Old Acre Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Bench Reserve
To be honest, this was very tight initially and coated with a ton of cherries, but boy did it sing with some air time. Straight out of the bottle the wine was a deep and dark ruby red with a purplish hue. The nose changed quite a bit over the three days we tasted. Started off with slight dust/chalk and muted. After a few hours it finally started to open with some dark cherries, slight cinnamon and a cherry liquor. The next day, dark baking spices and some oaky undertones came right through. Palate was coated in cinnamon, vanilla, dark cherries and some slight cloves. Heavy tannins (8/10), thick and medium plus bodied wine. Super extracted that finished off with a long semi-dry finish. Very complex and intriguing wine. Definitely needs a few years in the bottle to fully integrate and develop all the secondary flavors. Crazy good potential.
Bottle number 542 out of 1200. This wine is made of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Rutherford Bench, 4% Petit Verdot from the Massa Ranch and 1% Merlot from the Broken Rock Vineyard.
2017 till 2030.
