2012 Lauren Ashton Cellars Cuvée Mirabelle
Great opportunity to try some wines from Lauren Ashton Cellars prior to release. The heavy hitter for this tasting is the Cuvee Mirabelle. Deep and dark ruby red with a purplish hue. A little funky on the nose with some gamey/meaty notes, (we love the funk). Some smokey undertones as well as minuscule greenery and hint of nutmeg. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Lovely savory attack that morphs into a few rustic notes as well as dark cocoa and caramel. Slightly dry in the long finish. Absolutely gorgeous GSM blend from Washington State. Highly recommended and a must try from Lauren Ashton.
Perfect three way split with 34% Grenache, 33% Syrah and 33% Mourvedre. All the grapes were handpicked and co-fermented, and then aged in French oak barrels for 28 months. Only 250 cases produced.
