2012 Crux Winery Petite Sirah
Last of the two reds from Crux Winery. Deep ruby red with purple hues, classic for a Petite Sirah. Started off pretty tight on the nose, opened up with a little smoked cedar, some baking spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. Rustic and earthy palate to start with some dark berry undertones. Seems calm, no sharpness which is a plus. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and moderate body that seems to thin out by the finish. Dryness carries throughout the finish making it linger. Great structure on the attack. With the dryness and tannins it seems that this bottling had quite a bit of stamina. With some more time in the bottle, this should be able to beef up and develop nicely.
This is a blend of 90% Petite Sirah and 10% Syrah. Only 98 cases produced.
2016 till 2024.
