2012 Beringer Vineyards Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: Knights Valley, Sonoma County, California, United States of America
Absolutely delicious wine that only needs some time to fully balance out and let go of some heat. Wine was thick and dark purplish ruby red. Nose was coated in cinnamon, baking spices and some dark cocoa. Additionally, as it opened up there were some definitely vanilla notes from the oaking and some dark fruits, more like berries. Classic Napa-styled attack. Loaded with dark fruits, berries and creme de cassis. Moderate plus tannins (6.5/10) and full bodied. Lots of molasses and vanilla. Definitely has a silky semi-Aussie Shiraz like mouthfeel. Finish was moderate plus and lingering, but slightly drier than expected for a California Cabernet. Needs a year or so to fight off the heat in the mid palate. Overall delicious bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon out of Sonoma County.
