2010 Bodega del Abad Bierzo Gotín del Risc
Region: Bierzo, Castilla y Leon, Spain
Tasting Note:April 30, 2016
Trying out a nice affordable bottle, I believe this one was around $15.00. Also a new varietal; Mencia. Deep ruby red with a slight purplish hue. Nose was coated in a meaty/gamey aromatics, definitely savory. Started to open up with a some woody notes too. Palate was a bit singular, a slight darkness to it, such as some plums but very very soft. Overwhelming factor on the palate was the dryness. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) with a moderate to light body. Dry finish that felt like it would not end. Solid value wine just very singular.
